Privacy policy
In short: this website sets no cookies, uses no analytics and loads nothing from third parties – until you click “Buy”. The ORBO app works locally on your Mac, with no account and no analytics. This is a translation; the German version is authoritative.

Hosting and server logs
The website, downloads and the update feed are hosted by Cloudflare, Inc. (USA) on our behalf (Art. 28 GDPR). When you visit, Cloudflare processes technically necessary data: IP address, time, requested address, amount of data transferred, browser and operating system. This serves secure and stable delivery and protection against attacks (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Cloudflare may process data in the USA and is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework; logs are kept only as long as these purposes require.
No cookies, no analytics
We set no cookies and do not measure visitors. Fonts and icons are served from our own server; no external font services are loaded. Your language choice (English or German) is remembered only locally in your browser.
Purchase via Lemon Squeezy
When you click “Buy”, this page loads the checkout of Lemon Squeezy, LLC (USA). Lemon Squeezy sells ORBO as a reseller (merchant of record) and, as an independent controller, processes the data you enter there (e.g. name, email, payment details, country) to complete the purchase and send you your invoice and license key. Details: Lemon Squeezy's privacy policy. Lemon Squeezy passes the order details to us (name, email, country, product purchased) so we can help you with questions about your purchase (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
Reporting a problem
With Report a problem (on this website or in ORBO) you send us the type and description of your request, an email address for our reply if you wish, and – only if you leave it switched on – technical details about your Mac: ORBO and macOS version, Mac model, chip, language, appearance, trigger, chosen modules, whether Accessibility access is granted and the license status (without the key). On the website your browser's user agent is added. Never included: clipboard contents, your history, files or your license key. The details are used only to handle your request and to improve ORBO (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR).
The report is received via Cloudflare, delivered to us by email (see “Contact by email”) and also stored at Cloudflare; that copy is deleted automatically after 12 months, and we delete the email once your request is resolved, at the latest after 12 months. To prevent abuse we count reports per IP address – only as a hash, never in plain text, and for at most one hour. Until you send it, a draft stays only in your browser. If ORBO can't send a report right away, it stays on your Mac until the next attempt.
Contact by email
Cloudflare (Email Routing) forwards emails to hallo@getorbo.de to our mailbox at Apple (iCloud Mail). We process your message and address in order to reply (Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR) and delete them once the request is resolved and no retention obligation applies.
The ORBO app
History, settings and license stay on your Mac. ORBO only connects to the internet in these cases:
- Weather from Open-Meteo: with the coordinates of your location (only with location access) or of the place you search for in Settings,
- Exchange rates of the European Central Bank (via the Frankfurter service),
- Apple Maps: place name for your location, map and distance when you select an address,
- Images from the web, when you edit such an image with ORBO,
- Album artwork from Spotify: while Spotify plays, ORBO loads the cover of the current track from Spotify's server for the Media module (Spotify itself provides the address). ORBO reads title, artist and progress locally from Spotify or Music – with your permission under “Automation”,
- License check with Lemon Squeezy: your license key and your Mac's name, about once a day,
- Checking for and downloading updates via this website (Cloudflare): the servers see your IP address and the ORBO version,
- “Report a problem”, when you send a report (see above).
Shortcuts (e.g. YouTube or Notion) and actions such as “Search the web” open the app or your browser only when you click them; from then on the provider's own rules apply. Suggestions such as the music ring in Spotify are made locally on your Mac. Translation runs with Apple's on-device models. ORBO contains no analytics or advertising tools.
